repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which prevents the ATF from releasing data about gun crimes.

Created by M.P. on January 02, 2013

The Tiahrt Amendment was first passed in 2003 after being backed by the NRA. It does the following:

- prevents the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms from releasing aggregate data about gun crimes to the public, and

- prevents the Centers for Disease Control and Injury from conducting research into gun deaths and injuries.

The public should have access to information about which guns are used in which crimes and the role guns play in injuries and deaths in the U.S.
