The UIGEA was attached to the SAFE Ports Act. This act prohibits banks and financial institutions of the U.S. from transferring funds to a known internet gambling establishment. By being part of the SAFE Ports Act legislators were forced to vote for the entire act or risk being labled unpatriotic. The UIGEA burdens on our financial industry by making them identify gambling portals, burdens the citizens because transactions to any processor that may also accept international gambling transactions are declined by U.S. financial institutions. The Federal Government has no jurisdiction over gambling of any kind. The UIGEA impedes hard working Americans from one more form of enjoyment and attempts to legislate morality in a way that goes against our National Motto "The Land of The Free".
