It is well known that anything good takes time. Legislation is no different. It is difficult then to understand the nature of the passing of the USA Patriot Act in the wake of 9/11. The final draft was presented and passed only 45 days after the 9/11 disaster. The authority it granted the government far surpassed anything the Federal Government ever had before, thereby removing more freedoms and liberties of society in the name of security. No government should have the power to surpass its own laws in the name of maintaining law. This legislation should be removed and, if needed, replaced with well thought out and debated new legislation keeping the government within the legal boundaries of the Constitution. "Any man who trades liberty for security deserve neither." - Ben Franklin
