We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Repeal the War Powers Resolution, which allows the president to take unilateral military action

Created by M.F. on November 09, 2016

The War Powers Resolution allows the executive branch to take unilateral military action without the consent of Congress. This undermines the important function of the legislature to declare war, as intended by the founders in the Constitution. Bipartisan legislation to repeal the War Powers Resolution was proposed as recently as 2014 by Senators John McCain and Tim Kaine. This proposal should be revisited to ensure there are proper checks and balances on the executive branch.
