REPEALING THE LAWS THAT CRIMINALIZE HIV.

Created by T.D. on April 20, 2012

We believe that consensual sex between two adults should not result in sending the HIV+ person to jail for failure to disclose their status. Responsibility should not fall solely on the HIV+ person to protect both parties. Instead of wasting the taxpayers money by locking these individuals up in jail that money should be spent educating the community on safe sex habits. Where there is a case of intentionally trying to infect someone or rape then the law should be applied but in cases where there was consenual sex and the accusing party agrees to have sex without protection then they are saying they know the risks involved. The laws need to be changed and modified. These laws are ineffective and serves no purpose but to discriminate and instill fear and attach stigma about HIV.
