The Hughes Amendment of the Firearm Owners Protection Act is a do nothing law all it has done is drive the price of certain firearms up. According to the law a machine gun made on May 18th 1986 is ok but a machine gun made on May 20th 1986 is somehow different and cannot be owned by a citizen.
