Given that Andrew Jackson strongly opposed a national bank and the printing of paper money, replaced Grover Cleveland in 1928 for no particular reason, shamefully enforced the Indian Removal Act, implemented policies that expanded upon the corrupt spoils system, asked Congress to allow him to use the military to enforce tariffs, and owned upwards of 300 slaves in his lifetime, we petition the White House to replace Andrew Jackson on the twenty-dollar bill with the champion of civil rights, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who led the nation towards reconciliation and peace, was arrested, jailed, stoned, and assassinated for his non-violent leadership of the civil rights movement, and is deserving of commemoration. The MLK $20 will serve as a reminder to take the high road towards peace.
