Replace Andrew Jackson on the Twenty Dollar Bill with Harriet Tubman!

Created by F.E. on March 05, 2014

Symbols on money are subtle but powerful. The currency of the United States in its current form does nothing but perpetuate racism and sexism, reminding us all the time of rich white men.

President Andrew Jackson on the Twenty Dollar Bill is a particularly egregious symbol to be on our money, having orchestrated the Trail of Tears, the nickname given the forced relocation and genocide of the Native American people. Before become president, Jackson made his fortune trading slaves.

Replacing Jackson with Harriet Tubman, an abolitionist, Underground Railroad operator, humanitarian, Union spy, suffragette and civil rights fighter, would bring some much needed balance and diversity to our dollar bills.
