Replace Andrew Jackson's image on the US $20 bill with that of former Cherokee Nation Chief Wilma Mankiller.

Created by E.S. on June 18, 2015

Andrew Jackson has long been regarded as a controversial figure, for a host of reasons including, but not limited to: His open defiance of the Supreme Court, and his unlawful removal of Cherokee and Creek peoples from lands defined by valid, standing treaty as sovereign to them (which many native americans today characterize as genocide).

Cherokee Principal Chief Wilma Mankiller reinvigorated the Cherokee nation through her strong, community-focused leadership. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her achievements, which also included revitalizing relations between the Nation and the US Government. Replacement of Jackson's image with that of the late Chief Mankiller would help to begin the acknowledgement and correction of a dishonorable chapter in our history.
