Replace the celebration Columbus Day with Native American Day.

Created by C.G. on October 27, 2013

For too many years we have taught inaccurate history and given credit to a man who never even set foot on any part of the continental United States. Why do we credit him? And there is so little worthy of credit in this man's story. Why should we not give recognition to the indigenous people of this country who not only welcomed Europeans as friends but suffered under the same hands as victims? The Indigenous people of this country have survived, contributed in world wars, have added simplicity, beauty and and appreciation for nature to our society. No other culture has added such richness while enduring such unjust abuse. AND, the indigenous people discovered this continent thousands of years before Columbus ever existed.
