Replace Columbus Day with First Nations Day

Created by S.S. on February 07, 2013

As Americans, we need to formally recognize and honor the sacrifices and contributions of the First Nations peoples, and discontinue the celebration of the destruction of their culture.

There are many communities across the country where they have already changed the intent of said day, but we would like to see a national change.

According to AIM, "“Columbus was the beginning of the American holocaust, ethnic cleansing characterized by murder, torture, raping, pillaging, robbery, slavery, kidnapping, and forced removals of Indian people from their homelands. …We say that to celebrate the legacy of this murderer is an affront to all Indian peoples, and others who truly understand this history.”
