This petition aims to serve 2 purposes:
1) Help raise awareness of Columbus' true character and bring about an end to the undeserving idolization for a genocidal maniac.
2) Create a national holiday so that busy working people of this nation don't have to request time off just to perform their democratic duties at the voting booth.
Many states already stopped recognizing the holiday so this is something that has been long overdue for a change at the national level.
