Our patent system is broken.
Every new company that launches an innovative product is regularly subject to a barrage of lawsuits from "patent trolls" while giant companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars occupying our courts with frivolous turf wars over rounded rectangles and app icons. With 1 out of 10 Americans out of work, why does the US Government perpetuate this injustice?
David Kappos' recent comments at the Center for American Progress have not given confidence that he is serious about addressing the massive negative impact that technology patent warfare has on our nation's innovators and job creators.
It is time to appoint a patent chief who understands that government must allow our economy to foster up-and-coming technologies, not monopolies. David Kappos must go!
