The Electoral College served its purpose at the birth of this country but has outlived its usefulness. It has created swing states, or those with an oversaturation of delegates, that get a disproportionate amount of attention versus those in other states. Because of this, candidates tend to spend more time and offer more promises that favor these states over others.
This petition seeks to reanalyze this institution for one that favors the American public treated equally in the eyes of the election cycle. The benefits of this action include, but not limited to: preventing voters in non-swing states from being disenfranchise as well supporting other political parties.
When a President can truly be elected by the accumulative popular vote, then we can say every vote truly counts.
