It became apparent that in the 2012 Presidential Election, the Electoral College System does not reflect the beliefs of our people, where President Obama won the election with a landside of electoral votes, 332 to 206, yet the popular vote was less than 3 percentage points apart, 50.6% to 47.9%.
My proposal is to replace the electoral college system with a National approval voting system, where every citizen votes for as many candidates as they approve. The top two candidates would win the President and Vice President positions, respectively. Then Parties can nominate more than one candidate for the election.
This would greatly encourage voters that their vote counts, especially Republicans living in California and Democrats living in Texas.
