Replace the current federal tax code with a simple, transparent system, such as a national sales tax, or a value added tax. This would be a modern, rational way to raise revenue. This could eliminate the constant tinkering of the code for political gain. Either approach would be vastly more efficient than the hugely complex system we have now.
