President Obama promised to correct the horrible injustices brought on by the ill-informed war on drugs during his campaigns for the Presidency. Anticdotal evidence - and medical research outside the USA - has proven the medical value of cannabis and derivatives.
Even recreational use has proven to be far less damaging to society and personal well-being than legal drugs such as alcohol, tobacco and the cook's soup of pharmaceutical drugs. The only beneficiaries from continued prohibition are the prison-industrial complex, government agencies who rely on civil forfeiture processes to build their profits and pharmaceutical corporations who profit enormously by forcing less effective medicines on the population.
