It is cruel to have horses stand or walking slowly with blinders all day long on hard pavement. At the end of the day these animals are not sent out to farms where they can walk freely, but kept in small stables beneath buildings in NYC. The NY Daily News has created a petition to keep the horses. I have created one to free them from this lifestyle.
Yes, it may be a "tradition" of Central Park, but it is a bad tradition and one must think of the animals. Electric cars, trolleys, pedicabs are all just as nice for going through central park.
