Replace the income and corporate tax system with an Automatic Payment Transaction Tax

Created by B.M. on December 21, 2012

Our Income and Corporate tax systems are a product of the late 19th century, when even keeping track of financial activity was a difficult task.

The power of modern computing allows us to imagine a much more efficient taxation system, one that's based on the activity of the whole economy.

The automatic payment transaction tax is such a system.

It would replace the current tax system with a tiny tax levied on every transaction. The tax rate could be as low as 0.5% of the value of a transaction. It would save the economy massive amounts of money in tax compliance, shrink the size of the IRS, and dramatically raise the take home incomes of the middle class.
