Replace long-term unemployment programs with Federally supported work programs that address our infrastructural needs.

Create Federal and State supported work programs that are designed to address prioritized projects that maintain and improve our country's infrastructure. The programs would hire the long-term unemployed citizens in the place of providing extended unemployment benefits. Employees that participate would be eligible for educational training credits that would enable them to be retrained and make it easier for them to gain employment in the work force. State and Federal governments would determine the nature and type of work programs to provide. Such programs may include, but would not be limited to the following type of maintenance and repairs: Roads, bridges, Dams, Levees, Wetlands, Parks, Forests, Flood Control, Power Grid, water systems, sewage systems, etc.
