All one-dollar bills should be withdrawn from circulation over a period of 12 months. The equivalent replacement currency should be an equal currency mix of one-dollar coins and two-dollar bills.
This would allow the current reserve of $1 coins to be circulated, and would require the printing of only 1/4 of the amount of paper currency (in $2 bills) currently used for $1 bills each year.
