Our current gun control system is failing us;
1- It is too complex, too arbitrary, too costly enforce, and too subject to loopholes, lobbying, etc.
2- It does not protect us from gun violence. Most recently at Sandy Hook, but also things like drive-by shootings and gun crime in general.
3- It does not protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners, who rightly resent endless restrictions on the types/#s of guns they may own, where/how they may buy them, etc.
We need a new approach: I petition we replace this with a "3 shots and you are out" approach, where semi-automatic weapons may only fire 3 times before needing to be reloaded.
That is ample for sporting and defensive use; the only impact is you cant kill many people quickly. Limits on types/# of guns owned, etc will be lifted
