Created by H.G. on February 15, 2016

History shows that Andrew Jackson is directly responsible for the systematic destruction and removal of entire Nations of Native Americans during the War of 1812, the First Seminole War, and during his presidency. During the War of 1812, in order to test his men in battle, Jackson led his army in the killing of some 800 Creek Native Americans. Jackson is also responsible for igniting the First Seminole War when he invaded the Florida Territory, then under the control of Spain. However, during this incursion, Jackson waged an illegal war against the Seminole Nation. Lastly, as President of the United States, Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act into law, which resulted in the Trail of Tears, thus contributing to the death of over ten thousand Native Americans.
