Replace the U.S. Electoral College system of voting with the popular vote for national elections.

Created by M.P. on February 16, 2013

The United States Electoral College was created in 1787 as an alternative to having the Congress directly elect the President.

Use of the popular vote was impractical throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, given a lack of effective transportation and technology, as well as unequal voting rights for women and blacks. In today's world, however, the Electoral College is outdated.

Why action should be taken NOW:
- With President Obama's final election over, action on his part would not be a personal or political move used to his benefit
- The next election is in 3.5 years - acting now will allow future candidates to adjust campaign plans accordingly
- Today, 3.6 CA votes = 1 WY vote

CA conservatives and TX liberals simply have no reason to vote.

Every American should have an equal voice!
