Flint, MI endured years of high unemployment, crime, falling home prices and city services due to the loss of their manufacturing base.
Now they have the burden of tainted water lines that if replaced will not address the issues that existed prior to the crisis. Homes will be worthless for generations due to the association with lead. All while parents deal with developmental damage from the tainted water.
Flint needs more than new water lines - let's make Flint the gold standard for bleeding edge green energy production, community policing, transportation, health care, education and affordable internet through USPS and libraries.
They need help; we need to test 21st century solutions. We went to the moon, now let's make lemonade for Flint. The least we can do. For all of us.
