The legal immigration system of US uses the word "alien" extensively to refer to immigrants. Its so ironic and paradoxical that the "land of immigrants" refers to immigrants as "aliens". When a person immigrates to the US he/she is called a non-resident alien. When they eventually get a green card, they are referred to as "permanent resident alien".
My petition is to request the President to direct USCIS to replace the word "alien" with a more humane word, when referring to immigrants.
