The hyper loop as described today by Elon Musk, uses existing technology with innovation to replace outdated infaststructure. As the government is an excellent spearhead for spurring transportation initiatives and controls the red tape, it would be prudent to have the government involved from day one. The first step would be to re appropriate unspent or proposed transportation funds earmarked for outdated high speed rail projects which will be even more outdated by completion. To lead in innovation one must look beyond the horizon for what lays ahead, create inspiration, and make it reality.
