Students diagnosed with anxiety disorders such as panic disorder and social anxiety often have extreme phobias of class presentations and/or speeches. These medical conditions should have equal accommodation in the public school system to other students with physical disabilities. The fear of public speaking can often trigger panic attacks when these students are faced with a mandatory presentation. Just like physically-disabled students have alternatives to regular physical education classes, students suffering from documented anxiety disorders should be provided with an alternative assignment as opposed to the possibility of a panic attack from public speaking.
