The good name of Texas suffers from blatant attempts at secession and a retreat from common sense and decency. Given that the State of Texas has created the illusion of a balanced budget while cutting basic services and shirking responsibilities, and given that trade and our economy would suffer from import/export tariffs across formerly state lines thus rapidly reducing us to a third-world country, it is impractical and unrealistic for Texas to secede. We therefore ask that you protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers by repudiating any petitions calling for Texas secession, and thus continue Texas' contributions to the recovering economy and our nation's healing process.
