The transformation of holidays into celebrations not of purpose but instead of retail super sales has gotten out of hand.
Independence Day's no longer about celebrating our country's birth. Veteran's Day's no longer about celebrating those who defended this country. Thanksgiving Day's no longer about family gathering & giving thanks for all that we have.
Instead, these days have become synonymous with sales. Businesses stay open & citizens don't celebrate the true purposes of these days. Thanksgiving Day now becomes an extension of Black Friday, with some stores opening as early as 6am, depriving many of the day with their family.
We the undersigned would like President Obama to admonish & suggest law to limit abuse of American holidays by greedy retailers & restore their true meaning.
