Request for the attorney general to file lawsuit against Microsoft Corporation for their monopolistic use of UEFI technology to eliminate competition by third party, open source operating systems. For decades, consumers have had the right to install alternate operating systems on their purchased computers. Microsoft is now forcing computer hardware manufactures to implement UEFI technology as a prerequisite for their Windows 8 operating system. While the principle behind UEFI is honorable, increased security, the consequences of these actions is the elimination of easy install options for non-technical users. As an example, Ubuntu's easy WUBI vs UEFI install. Non-technical users now face the possibility of permanently locking their computer. This in effect decreases competition.
