With the announcement that Hostess Brands, Inc. has filed a motion with the Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to close its business and sell its assets, including its iconic brands and facilities, an American icon will soon be lost.
This action will cause 18,500 workers to lose their jobs, and for millions of Americans to be left without many of the baked goods they have grown up enjoying.
It is our belief that if the following two things occur, Hostess (and all of these jobs) can remain open:
1. Congress allocates the needed funding to ensure operations can continue long enough to return to normal operations
2. The Obama Administration, especially the First Lady and her health and wellness team, aid Hostess in drafting plans to expand into new markets.
