Even though these vet were wounded by 'friendly action' which took eleven years after the Vietnam War for the VA to recognize AO exposure as a valid health disability. Thousands have suffered cancer, diabetes, and other disabling sicknesses on an ongoing basis; many have died an early death due to their exposure. I believe we, as a nation, should at least recognize the long-term damage done to these faithful men and women of our armed services with the award of Purple Heart for the real and continuing wounds they have suffered.
