The government of China has been conducting massive land reclamation and construction work at its illegally occupied features of the Spratlys, which is threatening the regional status quo and security. China avowed that the purposes of its work would include boosting its military capabilities in the South China Sea, which already jeopardizes other countries in the region. In additional, these provocative actions are destructing the valuable coral reef of the Spratly Islands and causing irreparable damages to the marine biodiversity of the South China Sea. We, the Vietnamese students and professionals in the United States, petition the Obama administration to request the government of China immediately stop all the land reclamation and construction on the Spratly archipelago.
