I am requesting that the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act be amended to include Government Civilians called to deploy in support of Military operations abroad. I recommend the act be changed to Service Civil Relief Act. The current act provides protections for individuals entering the service, called to active duty, or deploying. It is intended to postpone or suspend certain civil obligations to enable service members to devote full attention to duty and relieve stress on the family of those deployed. Government Civilian employees are also called at times to deploy with little notice and this creates a hardship because they are still required to fulfill the obligations of rental agreements. In some cases deployment is a condition of their employment and they have to go.
