In 2008, Secretary Shinseki vowed to reduce veterans claims processing to 125 days by 2015. In the interim, the backlog has almost quadupled, no positive steps have been taken to streamline the bureacracy, there is no direct oversight of the worst regional offices, and the shift to fully electronic records still relies on antiquated computer applications which cannot communicate with each other. This is an insult to the honor and dignity of America's veterans and thier families who have sacrificed so much to receive so little in return. Our veterans deserve action, not platitudes and empty promises.
