Request NATO Council reevaluate Turkey's suitability for continued membership given it's treatment of the free press.

Created by M.R. on March 05, 2016

Given the court order on March 4th in Turkey seizing the Zaman paper with no explanation and the continued imprisonment of numerous journalists by the government we believe that the Republic of Turkey is in violation of Article 2 of the NATO charter as well as being at odds with the purpose of the organization as laid out in the preamble to the NATO treaty.

While we believe in continued friendship with the Turkish people we request that the United States start a frank and open discussion amongst the members of the NATO council on whether Turkey is in violation of the North Atlantic Treaty and what steps can be taken to either bring Turkey back into compliance or to revoke Turkey's membership.
