The official response to the eight separate petitions regarding the criminalization of private marijuana use was unacceptable. What is respectfully requested is an honest discussion about policies that criminalize the personal use of marijuana. To do that, the discussion must be engaged with people in your administration who are not bound by law to do otherwise. The effects of the human damage that criminalization does must be discussed. The science and research used for and against the criminalization of marijuana must be realistic, pertinent and relevant in terms of marijuana use and not be lumped in with studies and statistics involving other drug use and behaviors.
It is past time for an open, honest, respectful, objective and transparent discussion about this issue.
