President Obama's '08 campaign promised to double federal funding for Cancer Research within 5 years. The deadline has came and gone, yet very little progress has been made in doubling the budget thus far. It has remained relatively constant. The fiscal and economic circumstances in the President's first term were extremely prohibitive to realizing this goal. This will still be true for his second term; nevertheless, if President Obama can gradually fulfill this promise over the course of his second term, it will be one of the best investments this country has ever made. This is because the tide in the war on Cancer is changing. Recent research reveals deaths have declined by %20. Researchers have started curing near-death Leukemia patients with immunotherapy. The time is now, Mr. Obama.
