President Obama, I am Rafael Valter, a family man that immigrated legally to this country, I have been on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) since 2001, been a good citizen, have worked hard, paid my taxes, I was laid off once but refused to use my unemployment benefits for long so I took pay cuts of almost half of my salary instead of sitting at home in the recession, I am America's engine. I want the opportunity to serve her better, the ARMY turned me down twice for not being a Legal Permanent Resident (LPR), got my GED, and started college but I am not eligible for assistance so it's taking forever, my story is the one of hundreds of thousands of TPS holders, our hands are tied to give America the best of us.
