This extreme measure, in an attempt to fulfill a Utopian ideal, has cost millions of Americans hundreds of millions of dollars. There are more accommodating options for bipartisan agreement on this matter. The ideas of Paul Ellwood and Alain Enthoven concerned with "managed care" may be a better solution for the public.
It is time that the medical industry joins the rest of the market and allows information and pricing to be readily available to all so they compete as any other market was intended to do in the United States.
