On March 12, 2013, James Clapper testified under oath to a question asked by Sen. Ron Wyden, “Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?” Clapper responded, “No, sir…not wittingly.” James Clapper's denial has since been shown to be a blatant lie by the secretive programs described in the confidential documents that Edward Snowden leaked to the international news media. At the very least, James Clapper should be requested by the Obama administration to step down as Director of National Intelligence. If the Senate Judiciary Committee fails to investigate James Clapper for committing perjury, this will demonstrate that those in elite positions of power within the US Government are held to a different ethical standard than the rest of us.
