The public statements of Supreme Court Associate Justice Scalia have become increasingly erratic and bizarre, to such extent that they now indicate an alarming intellectual decline.
This petition is unrelated to his ideology. We acknowledge that at one time Justice Scalia articulated conservative intellectual principles in a manner that commanded respect from both supporters and opponents. At present, however, Justice Scalia evinces a loss of both judicial temperament and intellectual power. Whatever the cause, this regrettable decline makes him unsuitable for a position of crucial influence upon the law of the land and the lives of all Americans.
