Senate disfunction threatens our Republic's future, and at its roots are the current filibuster rules. These rules transformed the filibuster from a rarity to the permanent state of affairs, creating cover for those behind such actions and misleading the People into blaming the majority for results which are actually accomplished by the opposition. This deception reveals the current rules as contrary to democracy and progress.
Senator Harry Reid is resisting efforts to correct the current anti-democracy and anti-progress rules, and his failure as a leader may waste our best chance in decades to finally break free of gridlock. If Senator Reid fails to secure either the 41 rule or some other genuine reform, we ask the President to publicly call for the senator's immediately resignation.
