Request the Supreme Court rule on the constitutionality of the filibuster.

Created by J.S. on January 24, 2013

We petition the Administration to request the Supreme Court to correct the gross defect in the legislature known as the filibuster. Emmet Bondurant is currently challenging the constitutionality of the filibuster in the courts as explained here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/post/is-the-filibuster-unco...

The founders clearly didn't intend the filibuster. The first filibuster didn't occur until 50 years after the ratification of the Constitution. They DID, however, intend that checks and balances allow for the correction in the practices of one body of government by the other. Let's allow the Supreme Court to correct this horrid defect that is crippling the legislature's ability to govern and stifling the power of the majority.
