Request term limits for those serving in both the House of Representatives and the Senate

Created by R.L. on January 14, 2013

We request that term limits be imposed onto both the House of Representatives and the Senate to prevent corruption, and to keep the inflow of fresh perspectives and ideas in our Legislative branch.

Currently, a member of the House of Representatives must be elected every 2 years, with no limits on terms. A member of the Senate is elected every 6 years, with no limits on terms.

I propose that the House of Representatives, members who are elected every 2 years, be limited to serve 6 terms. The members of the Senate to be limited to serve 2 terms. This would limit any member of the Legislative Branch able to be able to hold their seat for a total of 12 years.
