Request that the Treasury Department stop making pennies costing the U. S. government 2 cents to make a one cent coin.

Created by J.M. on April 27, 2016

Since the cost to the government is double what the circulation value is to the consumer, this should be an obvious way to conserve some tax dollars. The Treasury Department should eliminate the production of the penny as other countries such as Canada have done, and allow product pricing to be rounded down or up (no doubt, up) to the next nickel. Finally, an end to the "give a penny, take a penny" bowls at registers across the U. S.! Many people who are due one cent change just ignore the cashier's action to return the penny change anyway.
