Florida has failed to protect children for quite some time. This is often excused by the officials siting that their workers are overworked and underpaid. This excuse should not be acceptable. The children are left in harm’s way due to the apathy and incompetence of the workers that fail the children regularly. Verified zero tolerance issues, which are posted to the myflorida.com website, are ignored and downgraded in the risk assessments for these children. There is little to no action or proper follow up even if the children’s safety is at risk. Just in the last few months there have been several preventable deaths that should never have occurred due to the failures of these investigators. The state has been unsuccessfully "attempting" to fix these issues for years.
