Requesting the Regulatory Reform to support those that moves into a nursing home. The Nursing homes take large portion of the monthly check issued by Medicaid and Social Security. The resident will receive a small stipend each month, sometimes as little as $30. This amount will be placed into an account or given directly to the resident. The cost of care provided by a skilled facility can be very expensive and Medicaid does not always cover every service so it is left up to Social Security and the family to pay the rest. With only $30 or so per month to call their own, these residents are unable to buy gifts for themselves or family, treat themselves to certain events (shopping trips, movies), or other activities that cost more than a few dollars at a time.
