All statistics show that the two parent household has many advantages for children. Far too many mothers are being asked to go it alone by a social order that frees women from archaic versions of marriage but has given too many men an excuse to walk away from family all together. As the family structure deteriorates, the nation declines, and our best days are only ahead of us if we can not only promote marriage, BUT healthy marriages. We can not hope to build a caring society, a society of empathy, if we can't even get people to care about those closest to them. Additionally, its important that same sex parents be afforded the same amount of help that straight parents are getting. However people might feel amount marriage, parents are parents, and HEALTHY marriages are good for kids.
